History
Artur Fransson was 16 years old when he in 1936 left Bohuslän (western part of Sweden) with a one way ticket to Stockholm. He came to work with mechanics at AGA and LM Ericsson and in the meantime he studied engineering. With 25 years of workshop experience he started selling machine tools and founded "MAF" in 1964. The first agency was Harrison from England which was a leading manufacturer of manual lathes. After some time the product programme was increased with grinding machines and lathes from former Yugoslavia, East Germany and Romania.
Sven-Olof Fransson, Artur:s son, joined the company in the beginning of the 1970:s when he initially combined work with studies in Business and Economy at Stockholm School of Economics. Until the end of the 1970:s the company only sold manual machines. In the beginning of the 1980:s the company started to market CNC machines from Japan and Taiwan. Artur Fransson passed away in 1986 after several years of illness. Sven-Olof became Managing Director in 1985 and under his lead until 2006 the company developed to what it is today.
The sales program has widened during the 1990:s with for example injection moulding machines from Fanuc and rapid prototyping machines from 3D Systems. Both are world leading companies in their areas. In the beginning of the 2000:s the company started to represent leading manufacturers from South Korea. In late 2005 the Swedish company SwedePower Machine Tools AB was acquired.
When Sven-Olof passed away in 2006 John Ericson took over as Managing Director. John was employed as a sales man in 1996 and was also responsible for the sales of injection moulding machines and rapid prototyping machines. Henrik Fransson (3rd generation) is since 2006 Sales Manager, Chairman and main owner. Henrik was employed in 2004 but has been active in the company in several ways since early childhood.
The business concept; "succeeding through happy customers who returns" has always been a guiding star. The outcome has been a long row of successful years. By keeping earned profits in the business the company has become the most stable company in its' branch. We have for example achieved the highest possible credit rate "AAA" from Dun & Bradstreet for 16 years in a row. This provides safety for our suppliers, employers and not least our customers.
